A new interactive touchscreen has been installed at Solihull Station, giving residents and visitors instant access to information about places to visit, events, restaurants and transport.
A new digital wayfinding unit has arrived at Solihull Station, designed to help people arriving in the town find their way around Solihull.
The touchscreen unit has been installed at the entrance to the station and provides a detailed map of the borough alongside information about local events, attractions, restaurants, entertainment venues and services.
It also provides practical information including weather updates, transport links, shopping destinations and council services.
The unit is the first of its kind in Solihull and only the second in the UK, according to Solihull Council.
Councillor Wazma Qais, Solihull Council's Cabinet Member for Communities, said the unit would make information about the borough more accessible.
“This unit will be a fantastic asset for visitors, residents and local businesses, helping everyone arriving at Solihull Station easily find what they need.”
She added that the station was an important gateway to the town centre and said the new unit would help support Solihull's ambitions for future growth.
The project has been delivered through a partnership between Solihull Council and Bauer Media Outdoor UK.
Bauer covered the installation costs and will be responsible for maintaining the unit. The council will also receive a percentage of advertising revenue generated through the installation.
Will Ramage, Managing Director at Bauer Media Outdoor UK, said the project was designed to make public spaces more useful for local communities.
“By placing useful, real-time local information at a key arrival point, we're helping people navigate Solihull more easily.”
The touchscreen is now available at the station, providing a new source of information for people arriving in Solihull town centre and looking to discover what the borough has to offer.
